FAQs
Is it worth it to get solar panels on my home or business?
This is a broad question that is entirely dependent on various factors but the short answer is YES! With many utility companies increasing electricity rates as well as the federal and state tax incentives there is no better time to go solar. There are immediate benefits to going solar such as reducing your carbon footprint, savings on utility bills, and the tax incentives you receive. However, one of the greatest benefits is the overall savings you will receive over the lifetime of your system. The average solar system will last 25-30 years and will recoup your initial investment within the first 10 years. Once your system is paid off you will not have a utility bill or a solar bill, so every bit of energy you produce is money saved for the remainder of your system's life. For the average homeowner, this is 10's of thousands of dollars saved over the lifetime of your solar system. When you look at it that way, going solar is one of the smartest financial decisions you can make. There are few situations where we would not recommend going solar, the main one being; you live in a home that is completely covered/shaded by trees, neighboring building structures etc. Unless you are able to cut down some limbs to provide ample sunlight to your solar system, or if you have space to locate a solar system elsewhere such as a ground mount system we would not recommend going solar.
Do I really need to clean my solar panels?
Yes. Not having your solar panels professionally cleaned can not only void your manufacturer warranty, but drastically decreases your solar systems life span and on average drops your production ratings by up to 35% each year.
Does it make financial sense to have my solar system cleaned regularly?
We always bring this into consideration when pricing out our cleanings. We make sure that the cost of maintaining your solar system does not outweigh the potential profit loss if you decided to not have your system maintained. This is very easy to calculate as well if your system came with a monitoring app where you can see your daily, weekly, monthly, and lifetime production readings. You simply compare what your average production was prior to the cleaning to your production post cleaning and you will see a significant increase in the energy you are producing. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
What happens if I have an existing solar system and need my roof replaced?
This process is actually much simpler and painless than you would think. This is what we call a De/Re (De-installation/Re-installation) and this process involves us working with your roofing company of choice as well as your home insurance agency to coordinate a swift take down of your solar system just before the new roof is installed. During the roofing process, We ensure that your system receives proper and safe storage until it is time for the re-installation. We immediately return as soon as the new roof is installed and put the system right back into its original place. Typically this is at little cost to you as your home/business insurance should cover most of the cost so long as you meet your deductible and it is deemed that you need a new roof due to old age/hail damage, natural disasters, etc.
